Celebrating Sanctuary 2006 ~ Comments from Visitors

Very thought provoking and moving – a diverse range of personal experiences.

You should have tissues in all the rooms!

Really cool to see our friends’ paintings on show! (Behnaz and Suzan) they were both great.

Good variety. Sand mandala amazing. Particularly liked the videos on 2 nd floor.

Thankyou. I appreciate the time and care given to this exhibition. Well worth a visit.

A very interesting and thought provoking and moving exhibition. I hope that this message will circulate and be recognised.

Fantastic haven here!

Very good art. Interesting pictures. Lots of colour and style.

A moving collection of artists and peoples’ lives, passions, grief and humanity. I enjoyed my hour here just taking in the diversity of media. Thanking you.

Loved the artwork and coffee was gorgeous. Ricky’s work very complicated but thought-provoking.

Beautifully moving exhibition, very sense inspiring, so many people.

Wonderful space- nice feeling around the place.

Meeting Annie was good, peaceful painting Mandala. Thanks to Suzan for inviting me.

I loved painting the mandala, it cleared my mind.

I particularly enjoyed the work by K148, the vibrancy and comment offered by street art generally goes by unnoticed. ‘ Bristol is beautiful’.

This is a really excellent exhibition – so many people, art forms, energies, visual and spiritual themes. Well done the participants, curators, Pierian Centre people, all involved. I really enjoyed it. Thanks.

Very visually effective.

It is really an excellent exhibition. All the abstract paints are lovely. It is my first time to come to such kind of exhibition during my three years stay in this country. I am really excited much appreciate for everything.

Very emotional and thought provoking.

The whole exhibition has been exceptional and I think everyone should experience it to understand others. Thank you.

Very thought provoking. Emotional info. Great building, is it accessible so all especially those who are less mobile and agile. By the way, Happy Birthday, long may you continue.

Happy birthday – you’re a glowing light.

Thankyou.

Comments on Behnaz’s work:

What wonderful paintings – and how resourceful to use coffee as paint! I think all the paintings are very moving.

Thank you for being true and honest with your work as well as to share it with us. All the best.

Beautiful, touching and evocative – keep up the good work.

Coffee on paper works very well! The project is amazing.

Lovely, delicate and beautiful work, especially ‘Forgotten Memory’ and ‘Lonely Cry’. Thanks for sharing it.

I never would have thought of using coffee! Beautiful pictures.

So beautiful and haunting. Please continue to enrich us all.

Behnaz, this is beautiful! Well done!

Strong work. Thankyou.

Hi Behnaz, so very beautiful, enchanting.

I think you have done a great job, with coffee in a paper. They come out really well together. And I wish you best of luck in the future.

Lonely Cry is beautiful in its simplicity and Forgotten Memory truly captures the emotion

Beautiful, evocative and tender.

We are delighted to buy your ’21 women’ – what is its proper title? They are all powerful or very lovely (or both) paintings. Thankyou.

Behnaz, I really like your work – coffee is such an unusual medium, and it works so well. I wish you all the very best in your career as an artist.

Absolutely beautiful, rich soft and strong – good luck.

Behnaz, Your work has deeply affected many of our visitors – as well as myself. With love and good luck for your future.

Behnaz, a very talented artist with a very real message and a unique and accomplished style. Hopefully the first of many exhibitions.

Fascinating beautiful vision

Wonderful way of putting all the material together and reflecting the everyday life. Great work

Very insightful, I’m assuming the change sound volume on the films is done purposely – clever – I like!

Enjoyed Zimbabwean food and interesting exhibition. Here briefly but very good visit. Thankyou.

Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, as well as engaging in the serious issues.

Thanks for the food, yummy. I love the way everything is laid out… the space is beautiful anyway but you have made it even more beautiful.

This centre is very important for this area. It is something we would like everywhere in Bristol.

I found the AIDS workshop very interesting and informative and friendly. The food was delicious and the gumboot dancing energetic and fun. Thanks for an excellent and well organised day.

I enjoyed doing the gumboot dancing and couldn’t quite get the rhythm of the drumming.

Sound with food. Good vibe and activities.

A relaxing and harmonious afternoon. Thankyou.

Gum boot bit too energetic for me to do, but great to watch, managed some drumming though and mbira was beautiful sounds, great to sing along. Noone could go to war on that music.

Stunning! Wonderful, moving exhibition, scrummy food, great music. EVERYONE around Bristol should know about this.

7pm talk very sobering! (Gabriel Shumba’s talk).
